Paris Plages 2026, summer in Paris

Paris Plages 2026, summer in Paris

Paris Plages: a little history

Paris Plages returns this summer from 4 July to 31 August 2026. This operation has been run by the Council of Paris since 2002. This year, Paris Plages celebrates its 24th edition! The aim of this event is to allow Parisians who do not go on holiday and visitors to enjoy free leisure and relaxation areas during the heat of the summer. This summer, both Parisians and visitors will be able to cool off right in the Seine.

For the 2026 edition of Paris Plages, three iconic locations are open for swimming, including the quai de Bercy, specially designed for the occasion. Wooden pontoons, secure swimming areas, changing rooms, and showers are all in place so you can enjoy a unique moment by the water, right in the heart of the city.

This opening marks a historic milestone for the capital, made possible thanks to a major clean-up programme launched in preparation for the Olympic Games. The Seine is becoming a place for leisure, relaxation and swimming. It is a fresh and original way to (re)discover Paris with your feet in the water, whether with family or friends.

The locations of Paris Plages 2026

Quai de Bercy: a refreshing escape in the heart of Paris

Just a stone’s throw from the National Library of France and just below Parc de Bercy, the Quai de Bercy site welcomes visitors all summer with two free swimming areas and an open-access solarium perfect for relaxing in the sun with family. To swim, visitors must know how to swim, and measure a minimum of 1.20 metres. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult with a limit of three minors per adult.

Changing rooms, showers, and secure lockers are available to help you make the most of your time by the water. Please note that only the solarium is accessible to people with reduced mobility. This new site is a perfect addition to the Paris Plages experience offering even more ways to cool off in the heart of the capital.

Bras Marie: a sunny stop by the Seine

Located at the foot of the Sully Bridge, facing the Île Saint-Louis, the Bras Marie site invites you to fully enjoy its close proximity to Paris Plages. Open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 am and Sunday from 8 am to 5:30 pm, this space offers a peaceful break by the Seine.

Although there are no individual changing cabins on site, secure lockers and showers are available for your convenience. Seating areas also allow you to relax comfortably and soak up the sun in a calm and friendly atmosphere.

Bras de Grenelle: swimming and leisure at the foot of the Eiffel Tower

Treat yourself to a relaxing moment facing the Île aux Cygnes, with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower.

This site also offers access to a water sports base, where you can enjoy kayaking for a refreshing and unique summer experience. For your comfort, changing rooms, lockers, showers, and toilets are available, along with seating areas where you can fully enjoy the sun in complete tranquility.

The Bassin de la Villette

The Bassin de la Villette, located in the 19th arrondissement, has hosted Paris Plages’ giant swimming area since July 17, 2017. It features three pools of varying depths: one at 40 cm, another at 1.20 m, and a large pool at 2.20 m. These pools are suitable for accompanied children (children under 10 must be accompanied), people with reduced mobility, as well as amateur and experienced swimmers.

Supervised by lifeguards throughout the day, the swimming area is open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sundays. Swimming sessions operate in 90-minute rotations, allowing time to clean the pools before welcoming the next group.

On the quay, bungalows, showers, and restrooms make it easy for everyone to change into swimwear. Refreshment stands and ice cream vendors are also available for visitors looking to cool down.

Along the canal, a variety of activities are on offer including table football, basketball shooting games, tai chi practice, and even open-air libraries lending comic books. For children aged 3 to 7, Ludo Plages features trampolines and fun activities, while adults can try their hand at breakdancing and ballroom dancing.

Parc Rives-de-Seine

Enjoy exceptional views of Paris' historic monuments from the Parc Rives-de-Seine, such as Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay. During Paris Plages, numerous lawns and wooden terraces welcome walkers to enjoy an exceptional and atypical setting, between palm trees and parasols.

Whether you're a sports enthusiast, visiting with family, or simply looking for a relaxing stroll by the water, the banks of the Seine offer plenty of activities for all ages. Enjoy the multisports courts, a 2-kilometre walking and running route, or unwind while taking in some of Paris's most iconic landmarks.

Children are also well catered for, with original playgrounds, wooden balance courses, a dock-inspired play area, climbing walls, and plenty of entertainment throughout the season. For a well-deserved break, settle into one of the many cafés, restaurants, or traditional riverside cafés lining the quays and soak up the summer atmosphere along the Seine.
